The University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Centre for Jazz and
Popular Music will present the Bass Showcase on October 11, 2017.
This show will feature the Jazz bass students from the
foundation programme, as well as first, second and third year students of the UKZN
School of Arts (Music) programme.
They will be presenting works by Thandi Ntuli, Benjamin
Jephta Jaco Pistorious etc, and some originals by the participants. The participants
for the evening include Charles Mdakane, Solomon Riba, Freeman Gumede, Sihle
Nkomo , Giyani Shangase and more.
This concert will be the second to last in a series of
instrumental showcases that ran over the course of the year. It will be followed
by the Drum Showcase on October 18.
A Bass Showcase
takes place on October 11 at 18h00 (doors open at 17h30). The Centre for Jazz
and Popular Music (CJPM) is situated on Level 2, Shepstone Building at UKZN
Howard College Campus. General admission R70 (R45 pensioners, R20 students).
