Deadline:
October 20, 2017
South Africa’s iconic piano show, A Handful of Keys, is coming to Durban
and is on the lookout for a new pianist to feature in the line-up.
As the show tours, the management is
sourcing pianists in each region to be guests star joining Roelof Colyn and
newcomer James Smith in the run of A
Handful of Keys which is coming to Durban this November.
Auditions will take place on October 30,
2017, at the Rhumbelow Theatre, in Umbilo.
The director of A Handful of Keys, Ian von Memerty, will be in Durban to host the
audition process starting at 10h30.
Co-creator of the historic show, von
Memerty said, “You will need to perform one razzle dazzle piano piece, in any
style. And then a contrasting number – a song, a parody or something completely
different. So please prepare two totally different pieces to blow us away!”
The successful pianist would need to be
available to perform in A Handful of Keys
for the Durban run at the iZulu Theatre at Sibaya Casino and Entertainment
World from November 8 to 19.
Audiences can still expect highlights such
as The Complete History of The Broadway
Musical in 12 Minutes, Liberace, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Funeral for A Friend and the SA Medley.
“But of course we are always open to
opportunities to invent new material!” says von Memerty.
