THE PUNTER

(Jayshree Parasuramen)

Described as a “woman musical”, The Punter is a comedy that focuses on the joys, the tears and the excitement of the horseracing industry in South Africa.

Co-produced by Lornay Caterers and Entrepreneur Sayed Allie, the play is written and directed by Hamish Kyd and performed by Jayshree Parasuramen. Using authentic horseracing colloquialisms, Miss Parasuramen hilariously plays the tipster “Dupla” and six other characters to tell a typical Durban, Greyville Racecourse tale.

The talented performer further enhances horseracing themes and comic moments by an original Race-Commentary and her rendition of four songs.

The Punter runs at The Norwegian Hall on December 15 and 16 at 19h00. Included with the show is a three-course dinner and a dance featuring DJ Kerwyn.
