Celebrating its first exhibition in its new home, the
African Art Centre released a call inviting local KZN artists to be part of a
group exhibition themed Heritage
Reloaded: Re-engaging the meaning and dynamics of cultural heritage in
contemporary Africa.
Cultural heritage is dynamic, it changes with every new
generation. One of the goals of the African Art Centre is to preserve heritage.
This exhibition aims to look at fresh perspectives and re-imagining what
cultural heritage is in the present Africa.
The exhibition is a celebration of cultural heritage
relaunching the African Art Centre in Station Drive. Heritage reloaded will present works by Joseph Manana, Sibusiso
Duma, Nindya Bucktowar, Nikhil Tricam, Sheryl Msomi, Heidi Shedlock, Major Ndlovu,
Sabastian Pillay, Khulekani Cele, Shubnum Khan, Lungisani Ndlovu, Zweli Radebe,
Sphephelo Mnguni and many others.
This exhibition of prints, drawings and paintings created by
well known artists and unknown young talent will run until December 30 at the
African Art Centre, 15 Station Drive, Durban.
