The best of the best in South African
comedy are being assembled for a brand new regular comedy show which aims to
bring the cream of the comedy crop to Durban stage.
The All
Star Comedy Jam debuts at the Bat Centre on February 2 and 3. Its inaugural
line-up boasts some of the biggest working comedians today - Dalin Oliver (CT),
Dillan Oliphant (JHB), Daryl Williams (DBN) - and more.
The brainchild of Williams, The All Star Comedy Jam aims to offer local
comedy lovers a feast of the finest comedy offerings on a regular basis.
“The All
Star Comedy Jam is unique and is like no other as it offers the biggest
touring comedians all on one stage, also giving room to give one up and coming
act a chance to share the stage with them,” explained Williams who will host
the first show.
“It is a world renowned concept and is
definitely one of the biggest. The best comedy space is not necessarily the
most prestigious, it is the space where comedians and the crowd are able to be
free allowing them to be creative,” he said.
The All
Star Comedy Jam will be a bi-monthly show: “All the show dates have already
been booked until December with half the line-ups complete already. The show
will have an established Durban act hosting it every month,” added Williams.
Williams is the reigning Champion of the
respected Parkers Comedy Club Comikazi Competition. He also successfully debuted
his smash hit one man comedy show entitled Too
Coloured in November with sold-out performances throughout. Currently
touring this show to Cape Town, Johannesburg and then Australia, he is
establishing himself among the heavyweights of comedy.
Dillan Oliphant, from the City of Gold, has
a cult following in South Africa and all over the globe. Most remembered for his
stand out performance on the Nation Wild
Comedy Tour with Trevor Noah, Oliphant walked off stage a firm favourite!
Currently touring his show entitled Oliphant
In The Room, this phenomenal act is not to be missed!
Dalin Oliver, from the Mother City, is
known for his side-splitting stints on Good Hope FM as well as his touring show
called Face for Radio. He has the
style and finesse of a true comedy genius, with many people calling him a king
of comedy.
Prins, originally from the Eastern Cape, is
a regular on the hit TV channel, Comedy
Central, and is a local and international touring artist. Currently touring
his popular debut show entitled Unnecessary,
Prins has left trail of laughter wherever he’s travelled.
Spencer Govender, a local fan favourite,
will be opening the proceedings with his intelligent observational humour. He
is a solid break-out act and is currently the reigning champion of the Kill or
Die Comedy Competition.
