National Eisteddfod of South Africa has announced
that entries are open for the 15th National Eisteddfod Young Performer Awards
competition. Founded by the National Eisteddfod Academy, this competition
provides a high-level national platform where the best young performers in
music, dance and drama, as identified at various festivals and competitions,
can compete and showcase their talents. This year participants stand a chance
to win up to R100,000 in prizes.
“The achievements, locally and
internationally, of previous winners and top achievers in this competition, are
testimony to the high level at which this competition has been presented since
it was founded 15 years ago,” says Dr Francois van den Berg, CEO of National
Eisteddfod Academy.
The Young Performer Awards competition
takes place over four elimination rounds, and participants are adjudicated by a
panel of experts in the following categories:
- Speech and drama
- Dance
- Classical and crossover music (vocal and
instrumental)
- Contemporary music (vocal and
instrumental)
