MOSAIC FOR M-NET!

(Sharon Stone)

Academy Award winner Steven Soderbergh – the visionary director behind acclaimed films like Traffic, Erin Brockovich and Behind the Candelabra – brings viewers an innovative six-part limited series called Mosaic on Tuesdays at 21h00 on M-Net channel 101.

Set against the backdrop of a mountain resort town, Mosaic follows popular children’s book author and illustrator Olivia Lake (Oscar nominee Sharon Stone), whose literary success makes her a local celebrity in the tight-knit community. When she sets her sights on a handsome young newcomer in town – an aspiring graphic artist named Joel Hurley – their flirtation leads to him accepting her offer for a place to stay and work. Passion, jealousy and deceit quickly make themselves clear with the arrival of Joel’s girlfriend, Laura, as well as a chance meeting with a charming but duplicitous stranger named Eric Neill.

In true Soderbergh style, the story ups the ante with an intricate murder-mystery: When Olivia disappears on New Year’s Day leaving behind a blood-soaked studio, the series becomes a whodunit and it’s up to detective Nate Henry and Eric’s sister Petra to unravel the mystery.

In November 2017, Mosaic was featured as the first narrative piece on PodOp’s newly unveiled interactive, mobile storytelling app. Through the Mosaic app, viewers are offered an intuitive form of engagement enabling them to choose from which point of view to follow the story and, in effect, build their own experience from the material created and curated by Soderbergh and writer Ed Solomon. This serves as an exciting prelude to the six-part television version of the series and allows viewers to see how Soderbergh’s narrative compares to the ones they’ve created with the app.

Delving into the psychological underpinnings of love and murder in a small town, this mystery-crime-drama has an ensemble cast with Sharon Stone (Basic Instinct, Casino), Garrett Hedlund (Mudbound), Frederick Weller (In Plain Sight), Jennifer Ferrin (The Knick), Beau Bridges (Masters of Sex), Paul Reubens (Gotham), Devin Ratray (The Tick), James Ransone (The First), Jeremy Bobb (The Knick), Michael Cerveris (The Tick) and Maya Kazan (Boardwalk Empire).

Directed by Steven Soderbergh and written by Ed Solomon (Men in Black, Charlie’s Angels), Mosaic is executive produced by Casey Silver (Godless, The Forbidden Kingdom) and Michael Polaire (Logan Lucky, The Knick). Adrian Sack is co-executive producer.
