(Annie
Robinson & Mark Mulder)
There’s only one Fawlty Towers – and there’s no other married couple quite like
Basil and Sybil!
The BBC television sitcom from the 1970’s,
voted the best British TV series of all time, has fans all over the world,
including Annie Robinson and Mark Mulder!
Confirmed Fawlty fans since the ‘70’s, Annie
and Mark now get the chance to share the uniquely Fawlty experience with KZN
audiences in their new two-hander comedy show, Tarty Flowers!, which comes to the Hexagon Dive in Pietermaritzburg
on March 9 and 10, 2018.
Devised and directed by Paul Spence, Tarty Flowers! is pure, delicious Fawlty
fun from first word to last. The much put-upon Basil, bossy Sybil, eccentric
waiter Manuel and pretty Polly are all there – and the audience suddenly get
the distinct feeling that they are guests in the dining room of the infamous
Torquay hotel!
Robinson is a gifted comedienne and one of
South Africa’s most accomplished actresses. Mulder is currently on television
in The Game and, when not on TV and
movie screens, he flies hot air balloons! A member of the Royal Shakespeare
Company for seven years, Spence has worked in theatres around the world; from
London to Copenhagen, Vienna to Tokyo!
Tarty
Flowers! has performances at 19h00 on March 9 and
10, 2018, at the Hexagon Dive on the campus of UKZN Pietermaritzburg. Running
time is 85 minutes, including a 15 minute interval.
Tickets R120. Tables seat 10. These are picnic
evenings – bring your food, but no drinks, as there is a cash bar.
