Nivesh
Rawatlal will give a walkabout on his exhibition Wide Eyed and Wasted at the Alliance
Française de Durban tomorrow (March 3, 2018).
"The
images that form the content of this exhibition is an archive of material based
on experiences, mistakes, experiments, surrealized interpretations of events,
loaded with historical symbology and misguided humour,” Rawatlal explains.
“I draw
aesthetic influence from a combination of street art, comic book illustration
and political cartooning to form the subject of my artwork. Context varies from
the interpretation of the image and its message. However the imagery seeks to
inform as well as engage with messages that I found through my experiences as a
not so young anymore, South African artist living in Durban," he adds.
The
walkabout will take place tomorrow (March 3) from 11h00 to 12h00. Entrance is
free. Alliance Française de Durban is situated at 22 Sutton Crescent (off
Windermere Road) in Morningside. For more information contact 031 312 9582 or
