PHILISIWE TWIJNSTRA GOES TO CANADA

Durban award winning playwright, actor and theatre director, Philisiwe Twijnstra, will be jetting off to Canada to attend the public reading of her play, The Red Suitcase.

Twijnstra is a recipient winner for CASA award Residency (2018) ‘Not Enough Buses in Spring. She was shortlisted for Short Sharp Stories (2017) for her Little black Sandals. She wrote her PANSA award winning play Salty Pillows (2017).

The Red Suitcase is selected by Zee Zee Theatre Company and she will be attending the first public reading of the text on the April 26, 2018. The trip is made possible by the Canadian Council supported by Assitej_ZA. The Red Suitcase will feature Bailey Soleil Creed and Kris Kuruneri under the direction of  Cameron Mackenzie.

Zee Zee Theatre a Canadian theatre company that was founded in 2008 as a company devoted to telling small stories in the lives of the marginalised.

“I am very honoured and excited that my play has a chance to grow more wings. I am looking forward to hear the reading by Canadian actors and I am grateful to be recognised as a young playwright, this is another huge step for my career.”
