The 26th annual Hilton Festival runs from September
14 to 16, 2018. Applications are now open for all visual artists and crafters
to apply online. Don't delay!
The Hilton Arts Festival aims to bring the
pick of quality South African theatre and music to KZN for the weekend. This is
accompanied by approximately 200 craft stalls and 60 visual art exhibitions.
Great care is taken to maintain a high quality and variety of work. Crafters
should offer hand-made products. The food village prides itself in selling a
great variety of healthy, nutritious meals including many vegetarian options.
The festival takes place in the grounds of
the impressive Hilton College in the KZN Midlands. Entry to the grounds is free
and there is no commission charged on sales. Footfall is about 25,000 people
over three days. Trading hours are from 08h00 to 20h00 on September 14 and 15 and
from 08h00 to 16h00 on September 16. Food vendors tend to stay open longer and
coffee outlets tend to open really early!
Online applications for visual artists and
crafters are open on www.hiltonfestival.co.za
Once applications close and all
applications are approved, stand allocation will take place. Although specific
requests for positions are always taken into consideration, these cannot be
guaranteed. Crafters include all those wishing to sell food. Crafters have the
option of renting a stand with or without electricity; within a small tent;
within the large craft tent adjacent to the visual art tents; within the Art
Block, Buzz Room area; and in the Raymond Slater Library. Visual artists can
select between the two large art marquees; within the Art Block; Buzz Room
area; and in the Centenary Centre and Raymond Slater Library. All details are
on the website.
The festival would not be possible without
the generous support of Hilton College, Tiso Black Star, Grindrod Bank, Black
Coffee Design, DWR Distribution, Bidvest Car Rental, KZN Department of Arts
& Culture, Assitej South Africa, Loud Crowd, Sappi, Redlands Hotel, BASA,
Castle Lite, and Capital Media.
