The KZNSA Gallery and a Pop-Up Exhibition Opening for Sasol New Signatures on July
5, 2018.
Join the KZNSA Gallery for artist talks, live music, art exhibitions,
food and more. It all starts from 16h00 with the LAB Talks: Sasol New
Signatures Winners.
This month the LAB Talks provide an insightful look at the Sasol New
Signatures art competition with KZN winners Sthenjwa Luthuli (2017 Runner Up)
and Elizabeth Balcomb (2014 Winner) sharing their experiences in the
competition along with regional judge, David Tshabalala.
In the Main and Mezzanine Galleries Sasol New Signatures exhibition of
2018 KZN submissions. The Park Contemporary Gallery will be open to purchase
some of the best in local art.
The eclectic night continues with the band Stone Soup as feature
musicians. Stone Soup are the band that are re-introducing Durban to the
Afro-punk experience. They are representative an aesthetic of punk rock/neo
soul/ afro-beat, hip-hop.
Even with this fusion, StoneSoup has easily identifiable traditional
Nguni melodic progressions. StoneSoup has been critically acclaimed as one of
the best bands to come out of the Durban under-ground for some time.
The KZNSA bar and Arts Cafe will be open from 17h00 for drinks and appetising
food that is pocket and vegetarian friendly.
