Oh Mama Mia! Durban theatre impresario
extraordinaire Roland Stansell has chosen a “FABBAtastic” and totally feel-good
show to launch his re-vamped and restored Rhumbelow Theatre in Umbilo.
We
LUV ABBA! showcases the much-loved hits of
legendary 70's mega Pop Group ABBA.
“Short of flying out the actual Fab Swedish
Four themselves from Stockholm for the big occasion (Roland’s a little tight
for cash after the theatre revamp), I have secured the very best of South African
music talent; five-star ‘Westville-to-London’ chanteuse, Cat Simoni,” says
Stansell.
“With ten years of entertaining at London’s
top venues like The Ritz, Dorchester, Carlton and Savoy, golden-voiced Cat is a
perfect fit for the hot and divine music of best-selling ABBA – and she’s
flying up from her new home in Constantia, Cape Town, to entertain her Durban
fan-base for this landmark weekend,” he adds.

talented performer? – and Bjorn in the tightest 70’s pop star pants known to

We
LUV ABBA! is anarchic musical theatre fun, with
wall-2-wall ABBA sing-along No.1 hits and promises to be a classic midwinter
warmer for Durban’s theatre and music-lovers. The show is devised and directed
by - and co-stars - former Royal Shakespeare Company UK actor, Paul Spence
Performances take place on July 6 and 7 at
20h00 and on July 8 at 14h00. The venue opens 90 minutes before show for picnic
dinner. Tickets R150 (R130 pensioners and tables of eight or more).
Take along food picnic baskets. Braais will
be available. There is limited secure parking and booking is essential. A cash
bar is available (no alcohol may be brought on to the premises). Rhumbelow
