(Ralitza
Cherneva)
Introducing the Trio Sofia – pianist
Christopher Duigan and two Ralitzas present a banquet of terrific trios.
This month, Music Revival introduces the
newly formed Sofia Trio, as Christopher Duigan brings to KZN audiences a
perfect choice of repertoire for violin, cello and piano with two Ralitzas -
Ralitza Cherneva and Ralitza Todorova. Both members of the KZN Philharmonic
Orchestra, the two star Bulgarian instrumentalists are well known to local
audiences through their numerous appearances in lead roles with Baroque 2000,
KZNPO, Gypsy Strings and Encore String Quartet.
Appearing with Duigan - as Trio Sofia -
they cherry-pick from the classical repertoire to present a beautiful programme for this
combination of musical treasures by Mozart, Astor Piazzolla (from his Four
Porteno Seasons), Gabriel Faure, and the dazzling ‘Dumky’ Trio by Antonin
Dvorak, one of the most imaginative, heartfelt and passionate gems of the
repertoire.
The three musicians appear in
Pietermaritzburg on November 17 at 18h30 at Casa Mexicana, 35 Montgomery Drive,
Athlone, and again on November 18 at 11h30 at the Tatham Art Gallery.
They reprise their exciting programme at St
Agnes Church in Kloof on November 20, starting at 19h30 (R100 includes
refreshments at interval). Booking is at booking@musicrevival.co.za or on 083
417 4473 (sms or WhatsApp only).
