(Bongiwe
Madlala)
A special series of Christmas concerts is
planned for Music Revival's musical expedition across KZN in December.
Pietermaritzburg-born soprano Bongiwe
Madlala will be sharing the stage with star clarinetist Junnan Sun (clarinet)
and leading SA concert pianist Christopher Duigan. The last of this year’s
monthly musical offerings at various venues, from Ballito to Howick, this
delight of musical treats is not to be missed.
Music-lovers can look forward to an evening
of songs, carols and seasonal music along with operatic highlights and many
musical moments, both entertaining and beautiful.
A brilliant virtuoso player of
international acclaim, multi award-winning Junnan Sun, until recently the
Principal Clarinet of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra, plays the sublime Andante
from Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, and a selection of thrilling concert works.

Bongiwe Madlala has
become a firm favourite with local audiences appearing regularly on stage with
Christopher Duigan in the City Hall Pietermaritzburg concerts and at the Tatham
Art Gallery. She recently starred, to popular acclaim, in the Pietermaritzburg
Chamber of Commerce's Annual Banquet. Madlala, who now maintains a busy career
in Johannesburg, includes The Holy City, You’ll
Never Walk Alone, Panis Angelicus and O
Holy Night along with operatic highlights from Puccini. She will lead the
audience in the singing of carols.
The concerts take place on December 11 at 19h30
at St Agnes Church in Kloof, December 12 at 19h00 at Ashton International
College in Ballito and December 14 at 19h30 at the Tatham Art Gallery in
Pietermaritzburg.
