of Music’s next recital will take place on March 19, 2019, and will feature pianist
Bryan Wallick.
American
born Wallick is recognised as one the leading virtuoso pianists of his
generation. He is a graduate of the Julliard School in New York, where he was
the first person to receive both an Honours Diploma and an accelerated Master’s
Degree.
After
graduation, he received a scholarship for post-graduate studies at the Royal
Academy of Music in London and was the recipient of the Associated Board
International Scholarship, receiving a Post-Graduate Diploma with Distinction.
He completed his Doctorate at the University of Pretoria in 2004.
Wallick
is an established orchestral soloist and has toured extensively in America, the
UK, the Continent and across South Africa. He is also a deeply committed
chamber musician. Wallick, who lives in Pretoria, took over a few years ago as
the Artistic Director of Schalk Visser/Bryan Wallick Concert Promotions which
hosts many international musicians who perform concert tours throughout South
Africa.
His
programme will include César Franck’s Prelude Chorale
and Fugue, Robert Schumann’s Symphonic Etudes, Samuel Barber’s Piano Sonata and
the Don Juan Fantasy by Franz Liszt.
The recital will take place at 19h30 on
March 19, at the Durban Jewish Centre, KE Masinga (Old Fort) Road, Durban.
