Its glitzy, its glamorous – it’s Ian von
Memerty, together with his ‘better half’, Vivienne in their latest production Putting on the Glitz, coming to the
Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre on UKZN campus from April 3 to 7, 2019.
Returning to Durban by popular demand, Ian
von Memerty renowned for his A Handful of
Keys and Strictly Come Dancing
roles, and his wife Vivienne, a former SA National Latin & Ballroom
Champion, are putting on a short season of six shows which promises to be pure
spectacular entertainment.
As they have developed and extended their
repertoire as guest artists on luxury liners, they have a treasure chest
bursting full of fantastic, fun, family-friendly quality material.
From their African Elegance Show they take the audience on a musical tour of
South Africa from Waka Waka to Pata Pata: from Homeless to Hope Joanna:
and from Los Lappie to Lakushone Langa. Music that grabs you by
the heart and rhythms that will get you jiving in your seat.
And from A Touch of Class they put you In
The Mood with some sequined style as they are Putting On The Ritz, to
the sultry sizzle of Sway and The Samba, and the showbiz showstopper Never Had A Friend Like Me, as well as
the powerful poignancy of Bojangles
and Memory.
von Memerty brings his pianistic fireworks,
and the years of their creative connection are revealed with a seamless
symmetry and a uniquely powerful partnership. Wrap all this up in dazzling
costumes, lithe and lovely choreography, and loads of laughter and you have
escapist entertainment that will lift your spirits like a luxury cruise.
