The kiddies are in for a treat this June
Holidays with Miss Marshmellow’s Rainbow
Surprise coming to Durban’s Rhumbelow Theatre.
Filled with song and dance, to keep your
toes tapping and the kids clapping, it will keep both you and your little ones
enthralled, singing and dancing along with a Miss that is searching for her
‘Mellow’.
Miss
Marshmellow’s Rainbow Surprise is a fun, funny,
funky adventure in which Miss Marshmellow overcomes her fear of thunderstorms.
When a major storm hits, Miss Marshmellow is found hiding under her blankie
shivering from fear. She decides to find the rainbow to help comfort her
frazzled mind. In attempts to find the rainbow, Miss Marshmellow, with the help
of the children and some wonderfully whacky characters, goes on a journey of
discovering the colours of the rainbow reflected in the wondrous world around
us.
Jackpot Productions presents Miss Marshmellow’s Rainbow Surprise, a
sweet little play about overcoming fears and finding the rainbow that’s inside
all of us. It is written by and stars award-winning children’s theatre actress,
Shika Budhoo, who will be remembered from her performances in children’s shows
such as The Fantastical Flea Circus,
iPuppeti, and Animal Tails II. In
Johannesburg, she has worked with the National Children’s Theatre on their
award-winning anti-bullying production The
Revealers. Shika has also directed Pieter Scholtz’s Children of the Sands at The Witbank Civic Theatre.
Budhoo, who now resides in Johannesburg, decided
on debuting Miss Marshmellow’s Rainbow
Surprise in Durban, where she discovered her love for theatre and speech
and drama from a young age. Directed by fellow award-winning children’s theatre
performer, Dhaveshan Govender, Miss
Marshmellow’s Rainbow Surprise is the perfect blend of old school fun and
modern-day funk to keep the kids captivated.
Having also taught speech and drama to
children for many years, Budhoo’s well-known upbeat and spellbinding
performance-style takes the kids on a journey where the educational becomes
engaging in the most entertaining way. The children are encouraged to express
themselves and interact as much as possible.
Miss
Marshmellow’s Rainbow Surprise is a charming story
helping youngsters discover how to handle the fears they may have, respect
others for their differences, and find the strength within them.
Miss
Marshmellow’s Rainbow Surprise has performances at 11h00
from June 24 to 29, 2019. The perfect holiday delight for children of all ages,
4 to 400, the show runs for approximately 55 minutes, followed by a colouring
in competition. Snacks and juices will be on sale.
