OPEN CALL: 2019 ACT | DALRO | NEDBANK SCHOLARSHIPS FOR VISUAL ARTS

Deadline for Applications: Friday, July 5, 2019

Applications for the 2019 ACT | DALRO | Nedbank Scholarships for visual arts are now open to learners currently in grade 12 and to individuals under the age of 25 who have successfully completed grade 12 and are not currently registered for study towards an undergraduate degree.

The Arts & Culture Trust (ACT), the Dramatic, Artistic and Literary Rights Organisation (DALRO) and Nedbank are proud to make an opportunity for higher education funding available to young South African performers and visual artists through the ACT | DALRO | Nedbank Scholarships Programme.

Young people intending on studying towards a visual arts degree at a South African tertiary institution are invited to apply. Visual arts applicants are required to submit a portfolio of works as part of the online application process.

Administered by ACT, funded by DALRO and the Nedbank Arts Affinity and supported by The Market Theatre, the 2019 ACT | DALRO | Nedbank Scholarships are in their tenth year of existence- a milestone year which coincides with ACT’s 25th year of existence. Nedbank Head of Group Sponsorships and Cause Marketing Tobie Badenhorst says “We are proud to be associated with ACT through the Nedbank Arts Affinity Programme and, more specifically, of the role that we play in empowering and inspiring young artists by creating opportunities in performing and visual arts. In our 25-year partnership with ACT, we have made funding of more than R20 million available for the development of South Africa’s arts and culture sector. We look forward to continuing this journey with a focus on education through the ACT | DALRO | Nedbank Scholarship programme.”

ACT CEO Marcus Desando says “Ten years of administering the ACT | DALRO | Nedbank Scholarships is an important milestone that we can be very proud of as an organisation. Through this programme, ACT has invested in increased access to higher education of our talented youth and will continue to do so this year. As we celebrate our 25th year of existence, we look forward to continuing the work of being positive change makers in the creative economy.”

Since its inception in 2009, The ACT | DALRO | Nedbank Scholarships Programme has awarded scholarships to more than 30 scholars and students, a contribution with a collective value of R2,5 million in tertiary education funding.
