Iconic Pakistani artist, Ustad Rahat Fateh
Ali Khan, has confirmed two shows in Durban and Johannesburg this July as part
of his much-anticipated brand new world tour, Me, Myself & I.
In a first for this musical maestro and
international award-winning artist, Rahat will be performing a special three-segment
concert that brings a unique fusion of musical brilliance on July 13 at the
Durban ICC and the 14th July at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg.
“I am especially proud and excited to be
bringing this new tour to South Africa. Me,
Myself & I is entirely different to my previous tours. This show is
different and fresh and my fans will experience three types of music genres in
one concert,” comments Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.

& I is guaranteed to be a sound and production
sensation that will include an unplugged session with an array of talented
young musicians and the soulful vocals of the maestro; RFAK’s hit Bollywood
songs including Dehkte Dehkte, Tere Bin
from Simba, Rashke Qama, Nit Khair Mange and more hits from his past three
decades; and an incredible musical journey with Rahat’s mesmerising and soulful
Qawwali hits.
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has been mesmerising
audiences around the globe for over three decades. As one of the most popular
Bollywood playback singers, he has released over 50 title tracks for TV
serials, over 100 film songs and has released dozens of original chart-topping hits.
Having grown up in a musical family in
Pakistan with a musical legacy that spans over six centuries and whose hearts
and souls are embedded in musical tradition - Rahat Khan is well-known for his
Qawwali music (explosive devotional music of the Sufis of Pakistan and the
Indian sub-continent) and also performs ghazals and other light music.
“We’ve already seen some of the best in
Bollywood on our stages this year and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is no exception! We
are excited to have him return to South Africa and showcase yet again why he is
undoubtedly one of the greatest music legends of our time,” comments Osman
Osman, MD of Blu Blood, who are synonymous for bringing world-class Bollywood
entertainment to Africa’s stages.
His music has captured the imaginations of
listeners as far as the West, with Khan contributing to the soundtrack of the
1995 Hollywood blockbuster, Dead Man
Walking. He also worked on the soundtrack of The Four Feathers, in collaboration with American composer, James
Horner. In 2011, his vocals were featured on the soundtrack of Mel Gibson’s Apocalypto and he has performed and
collaborated with top names in the industry including The Beastie Boys, Pearl
Jam, Bono and the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion. He has performed in the likes of
New York, Los Angeles, Spain, Canada, Belgium and Tibet.
Rahat carries a message of love, peace and
spiritualism through his music.
His Durban performance takes place at 20h00
(doors open at 19h30) on July 13 at the Durban ICC. Tickets R300, available
