For the first time in South Africa, there will be a stage production featuring dance and music that will trace the history and heritage of Gujarat blended with modernity. Gujarat, My Heritage will have one performance at The Playhouse on August 3, 2019.

Gujarat is a colourful state in India that boasts vibrant cultures and religions. Rich in tradition, Gujarat is home to a multitude of captivating, bright and vibrant festivals that inspire and excite. Both young and old participate in these beautiful events.

Gujurat’s ancient culture, beliefs and customs are still practised by more than 60 million people in India and abroad.

South Africa boasts the largest Indian population outside India and Gujaratis comprise a significant percentage.

With a brilliant blend of arts, culture and lifestyle, Gujarat, My Heritage will celebrate what being a Gujarati is all about.

With classical and folk music and dance - especially the Garba dance which is the spiritual expression of Gujarat - the well-choreographed lively and vivacious extravaganza will merge rich tradition with modern forms.

Gujarat, My Heritage takes place at The Playhouse on August 3, 2019, at 19h30 and is sure to mesmerise, enchant and keep audiences wanting more.
