(Jem
Atkins)
On Fire will present Not Famous, Jem Atkins’ solo comedy show, at Seabrooke’s Theatre in
Musgrave from August 8 to 10.
It’s been 10 years and he’s still not
famous??!!
Comedian, Jem Atkins, delivers his highly
anticipated 3rd solo comedy show … and this time it’s personal! Get ready to
see the comedian as you’ve never seen him before! Atkins lets you peak behind
the curtain in this laugh-a-minute exposé of the real life of one of South Africa’s
funniest performers!
From surviving divorce, to overcoming
addiction and crippling performance anxiety, to the highs and lows of “making
it big” in Durban, Atkins is wildly entertaining and brutally honest. He’ll
share some priceless tips on how to survive tough economic times, the beautiful
madness of fatherhood and the hilarious hazards of online dating, all while
poking fun at everyday SA life…
He may not be famous…but he certainly is
funny!
After a decade in the comedy and corporate
entertainment industry, Atkins has garnered a reputation as a highly talented professional
MC and corporate comedy entertainer. His performances are loaded with
high-energy, intelligent observations, and dotted with hilarious antics and
impressions.
His sharp-witted humour and honesty make
for highly memorable audience interactions as he artfully skirts the line
between funny and edgy.
He is also an accomplished actor, having
starred in dozens of stage productions from the tender age of 13, and more recently
in adverts for YouTube and TV. He is currently building his own YouTube comedy
channel show (Jem and Mo Show).
In 2012, he wrote, directed and performed
his highly successful debut one-man show – Single
Dad. In April, 2014, he followed this up with the highly successful sequel
- ‘Single Dad II’, selling out the
run and receiving excellent reviews!
