Durban’s effervescent band Platform Jazz
will present a show this coming weekend entitled Our Favourite Swings at the Northlands Bowling Club in association
with The Rhumbelow Theatre.
This time Platform Jazz teams up with fun
actor /singer Bryan Hiles to bring a toe-tapping and foot-stomping programme of
swing favourites. Dixie, musical highlights made famous by Robbie Williams,
Michael Bublé and Frank Sinatra, Latin numbers, show tunes and some original
compositions are on the menu. The band is made up of Cathy Peacock on trumpet,
Kirsten Sayers on clarinet, Jeff Robinson on sax and flute, David Solomon on
trombone, Andreas Kappen on double bass and South Africa’s jazz stars Melvin
Peters on keyboards and Bruce Baker on drums.
Hiles charms in numbers such as Have you met Miss Jones?, Beyond the Sea, C’est
si bon and Sway and the band will
entertain with numbers such as Favourite
Things, Chicago and, of course, In
the Mood.
The show takes place at 20h00 on August 3. (Venue
opens 90 minutes before show for picnic dinner)
Tickets R150 (R130 pensioners and students
