DanceworxKZN will present The Dancing Princesses this weekend (July 13 and 14, 2019) at the Playhouse.

DanceworxKZN is a KwaZulu-Natal based Junior Theatre Dance Company that was founded in 2016 by a small group of teachers who are dedicated to the advancement of dance, and in particular, Junior Theatre in KwaZulu-Natal.

The main aim of the organisation is to offer young performers opportunities on the professional stage with all that goes with this: professional sound, lighting, full time technicians, fly-bars, props, scenery and change-rooms with mirrors and lights; thereby instilling a love of and for the theatre.

In The Dancing Princesses, Princess Genevieve and her sisters discover a magical realm, where they learn that they can thwart Duchess Rowena’s evil plan.

The Dancing Princesses is DanceworxKZN’s fourth production at the Drama Theatre, and their second musical dance drama. The cast of 93 have been hard at work rehearsing since April, and will be performing in the dance genres of Ballet, Modern Jazz, Contemporary, Spanish, Hip Hop and Tap.

This season, the DanceworxKZN faculty includes the choreographic talents of Jean Wiggill, Minette de Klerk, Riley Wiggill, Angela Gutlar-Balkovic, Bridget Crisp, Kaylee Prosser, Penny Lundall and Lynn Totham. The company’s acting and singing coach is Babette van Loggerenberg.

DanceworxKZN’s past performances include Mirror Mystery (2016); The Frog Prince (2017) and Doorway to Zinnia (2018)

Performances will take place in the Playhouse Drama on July 13 at 14h30 and 18h00 and on July 14 at 14h30. Booking is through Webtickets
