The Jazzy Rainbow will present Thulile Zama live in concert on Saturday July 27, 2019.

Durban vocalist Thulile Zama holds a BA (Music) and recently completed her honours in Culture, Communication and Media at UKZN. She is the lead vocalist of the successful all female contemporary jazz band Heels Over Head (best contemporary jazz nominees SAMA - 2011), (Yamaha young Artist winners 2010). She also has done a series of Tributes to Mama Africa since 2017.

This versatile vocalist brings a wide repertoire. She is well-known in the jazz circuit and a well-loved vocalist in Durban. Her talents have taken her to Hamburg, and Berlin in Germany and New Orleans USA. She is also a voice-over artist and has been an MC for various functions in Durban and Johannesburg.

Zama has loads of passion for music and the performing arts. For this gig, she will be celebrating her 36th birthday (which is a week early) as she is born on July 20, 1983.

This concert will showcase amazingly talented Durban Photographers Fotobooth’s Project Backdrop. The project backdrop is a call for Fashion Designers from Durban to be part of a collaboration between Durban creatives. Fotobooth has donated its backdrop fabrics to fashion designers who will customise an outfit for a particular musician to wear when they perform. In return Fotobooth will photograph the final designs in a personalized portrait session.

The fashion designer that was paired with Thulile Zama is the talented Zandile Meyiwa who owns Mimosa Fashion House, which caters to the dynamic plus size woman who does not want to compromise on style based on her dress size.

Other musicians previously photographed by Fotobooth who are a part of the Backdrop project and will get customise outfits from talented Durban designers are Madala Kunene, Holly Wasserfall, Nkanyezee Zion Mndini, Annalyzer Muziq Ntsane, Sun Xa Experiment, Zoe Moleelekwa and Lerato Lichaba .

Join Thulile Zama live in concert on Saturday July 27, 2019, at the Jazzy Rainbow. Entrance fee R100 (R70 students with valid ID). Doors open at 19h00 and the music starts at 20h30. Bookings: phone 031 303 8398 or email
