The KZNSA Gallery is one of 24 exhibitors from nine different countries
participating in the first edition of LATITUDES Art Fair in Johannesburg. In
September, the gallery will represent three of KZN’s star artists, Sthenjwa
Luthuli, Cameron Platter and Derrick Nxumalo, in this elite afro-centric
experience from September 13 to 15, 2019, at Nelson Mandela Square, Sandton.
LATITUDES is a new fair for African Art that appeals to an international
audience. The three artists represented by the KZNSA at LATITUDES compliment
and contrast with each other. Platter, Nxumalo, and Luthuli present work that
evokes nostalgia and exhilaration, with colourful palettes, labour intensive
techniques and detailed use of pattern.
Their work will appear alongside artists from South Africa, Uganda,
Spain, Angola, Norway, USA, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, and Germany. The LATITUDES
programme is curated to present the work of emerging artists and galleries
especially from Africa and its diaspora.
