en Masse, the massed orchestra concert hosted by
The British Cultural and Heritage Association takes place on August 25 at the
DLI Hall. This year, the orchestra will perform under the baton of seasoned
conductor Russell Scott.
The varied programme is one which will have
general appeal and includes Themes from 007, Carmen’s Suite no.1, West Side Story, Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana and El Capitan and opens, with acclaim, to
the 20th Century Fox Fanfare. The star-studded soloists are vocalist Marianthe
Panas who will perform Skyfall, Somewhere
Out There and New York New York
and oboeist Nina Alborough who will play Gabriel’s Oboe.
The Westville Girls’ High School Marimba
Band will provide exciting pre-concert entertainment between 14h00 and 14h30.
Pre-book tickets on 087 702 7412 and
collect at the door on the day of the concert. Tickets R50. Seating is
unreserved. Secure parking is available. Lions International Cowies Hill will
be running a tuck shop.
This concert gives musicians the
opportunity to play together as a massed orchestra and also, most importantly,
brings the joy of music to several deserving organisations by way of sponsored
tickets.
