(Left: Cat
Simoni)
Westville-raised international artist Cat
Simoni returns to Rhumbelow Theatre Durban with a new cabaret show inspired by
her recent tour to Europe's jazz festivals and clubs;
Titled Wine,
Woman & Song!, it is her personal salute to her favourite wine-drenched
composers and artists.
From a tipsy Johann Strauss' title song
spiced with Simoni’s own teasing lyrics, Marianne Faithfull's timeless Ballad of Lucy Jordan and Janis Joplin's
classic Mercedes Benz, she takes her
audience on a full-throttle cabaret ride in vino veritas to the beat of an
intoxicating array of hits from The Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart, Chrissie
Hynde, Chris de Burgh, Cher, Piaf, Melina Mercouri, Shania Twain, Queen, The
Pogues, Jaques Brel, Billy Joel, Joan Jett, Etta James, Adele and Amy
Winehouse.
Wine,
Woman & Song! is devised and directed by Paul
Spence
