(Jem
Atkins from On Fire Comedy (“Scared Scriptless”, Rob van Vuuren’s “Again”) and
Kwazi Mhlongo (“I Grandi Tenori in Concert”) are packing their suitcases,
getting on their skateboards and heading to Hilton!)
Next stop…. Hilton Arts Festival!
With just over a week to go, people are
packing their bags …. but where …. or if … to stay over is the burning
question.
Many of the country’s top theatre-makers
and artists will be heading to the KZN Midlands for the annual Hilton Arts
Festival from September 13 to 15, 2019, which offers an artistic smorgasbord
from serious music to stand-up comedy and everything in between. So make your
plans, get onto your skateboard and head to Hilton!
Although many people choose to stay over in
the scenic KZN Midlands, please remember that it is not really that far away –
it is only an hour and 10 minutes from Central Durban and it is perfectly
possible to drive up for the day only.
So if the additional cost of accommodation
is putting you off, be a day tripper. Leave Durban by 08h00, get to Hilton in
good time for the 10h00 show, pack in a full day of drama, music, art and craft and be home again
for a good night’s sleep. If you had a brilliant day … come again the next day!
Remember, that even if you are only there
for the day, bring clothing for all climates.
The organisers are often asked by patrons
where to stay. The KZN Midlands is filled with hotels, hostelries, B&B’s
and Air BnB’s. The choice is varied and there is something to suit everyone’s
needs. This link will lead you to a
selection of places approved by Hilton College as being of a good standard: https://www.hiltoncollege.com/information-for-parents/accommodation-at-hilton/
