(Andries Botha)
The next Mondays at Six at St Clements programme takes place on October
7, 2019. The venue invites the public to join them for a conversation with pre-eminent
South Africa sculptor, Andries Botha.
“Art is a total awareness-building programme that influences all aspects
of life.”— July 1985, Cosmopolitan magazine Andries
Botha: Down To Earth by Wanda Hennig.
Botha has been making art - winning awards, exhibiting internationally,
teaching, using his art as a platform for activism - for more than 40 years.
Conversation topics include:
-The decision to be an artist—to hang in with this decision.
-Relationships, creativity, sex and art.
-The intersection of life, love and “career”.
Many of Botha’s mixed media sculptures, which have been exhibited across
the globe, have been rarely seen in South Africa. This is about to change. The
work is coming out of storage. Where is it going? (This is big news and
super-exciting for KZN.)
What did Botha learn from the formerly controversial Warwick Avenue
elephant sculpture project?
The above: to give you a taster of what to expect.
St Clements is situated at 191 Musgrave Road. Mondays @ Six run between
18h00 and 19h00. Table bookings are essential on 031 202 2511. There is no
