quality canvas print by Jeff Huntly – the image was used as the outside cover

Blue Caterpillar Gallery in Pietermaritzburg has a unique opportunity of
showcasing Jeff Huntly’s canvas prints of his original works taken from his
published book Veld Sketchbook.
Jeff Huntly was a professional artist and author whose paintings have
been exhibited in South Africa and internationally. For 23 years, from 1983 to 2006, he had a
weekly Veld Sketchbook column in The
Witness newspaper which featured his illustrations and paintings. His love and
knowledge of the African bushveld made him a popular and well-loved household
name. His articles were published periodically in The Sunday Times, The Star,
The Pretoria News, and The Rhodesian Herald.
Huntly was commissioned to design post-independence coins for Zimbabwe
as well as postage stamps for Rhodesia, Ciskei and Transkei. His contribution
towards raising public awareness of wildlife and conservation resulted in his
receiving a Rotary Vocational Award and being appointed an honorary associate
of the Natal Museum.

night” – high quality canvas print)
Huntly’s daughter, Phillipa, has selected a number of his paintings
(many of which are featured in the hardcover publication of Veld Sketchbook) which have been
beautifully reproduced as canvas prints. This collection of prints is testament
to Huntly’s artistic prowess and his knowledge and love of South African
nature.
The exhibition will be running until the end of October, 2019.
