Four top KZN singers join forces to bring
some of the world’s best-loved songs to the stage in a new show, Ladies Sing the Blues, at Rhumbelow
Tina’s from September 25 to 29, 2019.
Ladies
Sing the Blues, which is directed by Peter Mitchell, comes direct from the Hilton Arts
Festival where it will have performances on September 13 at 17h30 and September

Four top KZN singers join forces to bring
some of the world’s best loved songs to the stage in this new show. Erin
Fourie, Tanya Nicolson, Grace Botha, and Helen Vermaak combine their
extraordinary talents as they present an evening of Blues and Jazz songs
spanning a century of music. From Billie Holliday to Amy Winehouse, and Ella
Fitzgerald to Norah Jones, these four fabulous voices pay tribute to some of
the world’s best singers and songs.
The show also shows the fun side of Jazz –
that anything can be jazzed up, even Beyoncé, Britney Spears and Cyndi Lauper!
Who could forget such classic numbers such
as Cry Me a River, Georgia on my Mind, My
Funny Valentine, I’ve Got You Under My Skin and Mack the Knife. These are complemented by dynamic versions of songs
like Love and Affection by Joan
Armatrading and Girls Just Want to Have
Fun.

Tanya Nicolson started her musical theatre
career at the tender age of 8 with PACT. She gained a B.Dram drama degree at
Stellenbosch University where she majored in Cabaret & Physical Theatre.
Her first role straight out of university saw her play a female lead in David
Kramer's District Six - The Musical.
Immediately thereafter she starred in BBC's Cavegirl
- a leading Teen series in the UK. Nicolson then moved on to perform in musicals,
children's theatre, film and television with the likes of Jonathan Roxmouth,
Ian von Memerty, and Pieter Toerien. She also performs in a jazz/contemporary
duo with St John Haw.

popular performers, both at local music venues and in theatres. A former Idols top 7, she has a vocal and
stylistic range that encompasses most genres from rock to jazz, with musical
theatre thrown in. She has even been known to sing country! A regular at the
Hilton Arts Festival, Fourie has had sold-out shows for the last three years.

the stage and shares her renditions of well-known songs while usually
accompanying herself on piano or guitar. She studied jazz formally at Howard
College and amalgamates her love for jazz, pop, folk and soul. She is one half
of the duo Sachet SA, has sung with Seb Goldswain, and opened for Jason
Hartman.
