The ever proactive caring learners from
Eden College Durban will perform their brand new production: Norman Klutsky: Eco Warrior of the High Seas,
a delightful original fun-filled thought-provoking 40-minute eco adventure told
through interactive lively storytelling, puppetry, song and dance, at a special
one-off performance to be held at the school on September 19, 2019.
Eden Schools is partnering with
award-winning social enterprise Clothes to Good to re-stage the show for this performance
as a showcase to encourage caring Durbanites to be part of Moving Mountains -
children leading the way with innovative inclusive projects to simultaneously
empower young entrepreneurs with disabilities while offering sustainable,
incentive-driven recycling solutions.
Clothes to Good, a leading South African
social enterprise, achieved first place in the SAB Foundation disability
empowerment awards last year, October 2018. They have also been awarded a grant
from Google Impact Challenge in SA last November.
They will be making a short presentation on
their new Moving Mountains initiative after the performance of Normal Klutsky.
Norman
Klutsky: Eco Warrior of the High Seas is presented
by learners from Eden College Durban, written and directed by Jean van Elden,
with input from the cast, and with puppets by Peter Court.
Join Nerdy Norman on his rollicking journey
of self-discovery to the depths of the oceans. On his quest to find the Plastic
Pirates and Trash Island adventure, he meets an array of zany sea-creatures and
learns valuable life-lessons … and the chance of true love!
The production has already performed in
Cape Town and is one of the productions to be staged at the Hilton Arts
Festival as part of the free street theatre programme which takes place from September
13 to 15. After the Eden performance, the show heads to Mauritius to perform at
schools and at Vanilla Village resort.
