On the September 27 and 28, 2019, primary
and high school marching bands, marimba bands, wind bands and orchestras from
around South Africa will descend on Reddam House Umhlanga as the school proudly
hosts the South African National Band & Orchestra Competition.
This event, hosted in conjunction with the
South African School Band Association and the Durban Music School, will see
ensembles of all forms compete in front of a professional panel of adjudicators
in a massive two-day musical spectacular.
“This is the first time in many years that
the National Competition has been hosted in Durban and we cannot wait to have
all of these wonderful ensembles here at Reddam House Umhlanga, not to mention,
have our own Orchestra be part of the event! Music is such a valued part of
Reddam House Umhlanga culture and the opportunity to share this with schools
from around South Africa is a real privilege,” says Russell Scott, Director of
Music, Reddam House Umhlanga.
From primary school marimba bands, to
university orchestras, the day will be one to be remembered as the groups put
on their best performances to wow judges and audiences.
Taking place in the Robert & Robin Muir
Auditorium, the competition programme is as follows:
September 27 from 15h00: Drumlines &
Marching Bands
September 28 from 0800: Bands and
Orchestras
Tickets are R40 available at the door.
