THE WIZARD OF OZ AT RHUMBELOW

A wonder-filled, interactive tale inspired by the work of L Frank Baum, The Wizard of Oz, is performed by Adi Paxton at the Rhumbelow Theatre’s September holiday season for youngsters. The show runs from September 25 to 28, 2019, in Durban.

L Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz inspired 13 sequels, a musical and two films. Now young audiences and old alike can join in to celebrate this classic American fairy tale.

Dorothy Gale and her dog Toto are blown to a land beyond the rainbow where Scarecrow, Tinman and a cowardly Lion journey with her to find what they want most in life. Along the way they meet flying monkey’s colourful people and a host of strange and magical creatures.

Well-known Durban family show, entertainer and magical clown Adi Paxton presents her latest show The Wizard of Oz at Rhumbelow in the September holidays with hats, wigs, pop-up sets, objects and some magic tricks This is a fun funky updated take on a true children's story classic.

With a lot of fun along the way, the interactive elements, stimulate creativity, imagination and encourage participation.in the true spirit of the original book.

Adi has also upcycled and used items in fresh ways as she shares the story. Join in the imaginative journey and see if you can spot these transformations.

“This truly is a modern fairy tale,” she says. Come along and enjoy the fun. The perfect holiday delight for children of all ages, four to 400!

Paxton has entertained family audiences in Durban, throughout South Africa and internationally, since 1986 and is well-known as Cherry the Magical Clown. She recently performed two successful shows at Rhumbelow in the July holidays. If you enjoyed her storytelling in African Tales or the fun and magic of Double Trouble A Clown Adventure, you will enjoy her latest show which draws on elements of both of them.

Whether she is entertaining children in theatres, schools. homes or hospitals in SA or abroad, Adi enjoys encouraging audiences of all ages to join her in creatively engaging with stories to create their own world of wonder.

The runs for approximately 50 minutes. There will be some fun colouring-in afterwards for the kids and a colouring in competition.

Performances take place from September 25 to 28 daily at 11h00. Snacks and juices will be on sale.
