The KZN Youth Orchestra under the baton of
Lykele Temmingh will present its gala concert on October 11 at the Zimbali
Country Club.
The ensemble consists of young musicians
from all around the province aged between 9 and 19. The Gala is a culmination
of an excellent year of work and great concerts. The theme this year was community
and school. Their concerts included teaming up with Crawford College North Coast
in March, Thomas More College in May, Durban Girls College in June, Reddam
College Umhlanga in August and a fantastic massed upper highway schools
orchestra project involving seven schools orchestra on August 31. They have
also recently taken their effervescent music to Le Domaine and Doone Village
retirement centres.
They toured Eastern Cape the second week of
June this year with concerts at East London, two in Port Alfred - one for
community and one for Rotary, three on the Fringe at the National Arts Festival
and a successful children’s concert on the main at NAF in Monument Foyer.
On the programme will be music ranging from
Baroque and Classical to Rock and Latin styles.
The gala concert takes place on October 11 at
18h00 at the Zimbali Country Club. Tickets R150 (R100 pensioners and scholars)

raffles and cash bar.
