The KZN Youth Orchestra under the baton of Lykele Temmingh will present its gala concert on October 11 at the Zimbali Country Club.

The ensemble consists of young musicians from all around the province aged between 9 and 19. The Gala is a culmination of an excellent year of work and great concerts. The theme this year was community and school. Their concerts included teaming up with Crawford College North Coast in March, Thomas More College in May, Durban Girls College in June, Reddam College Umhlanga in August and a fantastic massed upper highway schools orchestra project involving seven schools orchestra on August 31. They have also recently taken their effervescent music to Le Domaine and Doone Village retirement centres.

They toured Eastern Cape the second week of June this year with concerts at East London, two in Port Alfred - one for community and one for Rotary, three on the Fringe at the National Arts Festival and a successful children’s concert on the main at NAF in Monument Foyer.

On the programme will be music ranging from Baroque and Classical to Rock and Latin styles.

The gala concert takes place on October 11 at 18h00 at the Zimbali Country Club. Tickets R150 (R100 pensioners and scholars) can be purchased at the door or from Karen on 083 235 6072. There will be raffles and cash bar.
