(Menzi
Mkhwane)
If you are a young Durban-based (ages 21 to
26) actor or actress working in theatre and follow the work of well-known
Durban actor Menzi Mkhwane and his work, he will be holding auditions for plays
he plans to produce early next year.
Whether you are trained or untrained, Mkhwane
would like to audition those interested for the following plays:
Waiting
for Godot; Hamlet; Romeo and Juliet, and Macbeth.
These plays are being performed for high
school setworks, meaning the plays will be traveling to schools and performing
for young audiences.
Auditions are taking place in Durban this
December. Those who are cast will start working in December.
“So if you looking for work avail yourself.
This will also help you grow if you get a chance to work in the casts I'll be
building. Remember, you only get work if you come out and audition. You only
get known about when you work with other directors. So try out,” says Mkhwane.
“'m looking for new actresses that are
strong there is always a shortage there. So, ladies, come through - I'm keen to
see what's the best that Durban has to offer. But you have to be able to
communicate fluently in isiZulu and English. Let's end unemployment in the arts
once and for all. Look forward to the new talent I'll see!” he adds.
