For an 'End Of Year' concert with something special,
Christopher Duigan's' Music Revival Concerts presents a popular and intriguing
selection of music from his recent My
Favourite Things selection. This will take place at Casa Mexicana in
Pietermaritzburg on December 30 and 31.
After receiving many positive and enthusiastic responses
from his rent presentation, audiences can now expect a reprisal of this selection
plus more new additional interludes! This pianistic 'tour de force’ traverses
the music of ‘Ragtime King’ Scott Joplin, and swaggers through a dollop of
sultry South American tango, both Brazilian and Argentine. From the classical
repertoire he includes Mozart's Turkish Rondo, Rachmaninoff's celebrated Prelude
in C-sharp minor, music by Beethoven, Chopin and Schumann.
From the 'not so classical' volumes he plays Joplin’s Maple Leaf Rag and The Easy Winners, La Cumparsita, and tangos by Julian Plaza. Music
from Brazilian Ernesto Nazareth, which Duigan has championed for a number of
years, completes the South American selection.
