Friends of Music will host a Sunday
afternoon of Baroque Masterpieces presented by Suite 415 on March 15, 2020.
Suite 415 is a collaboration of well-known
Durban classical musicians who are passionate about Baroque music. They are
Evelien Ballantine – Traverso - Baroque
Flute
Margrit Deppe - Baroque Oboe
Ralitza Macheva - Violin
Aristide du Plessis – Cello
David Smith - Harpsichord.
The musicians play at pitch 415Hz on
musical instruments which are historically correct for the 17th century. They
are supported by a beautiful, recently restored Zuckermann (Ruckers), Flemish,
harpsichord.
Suite 415 will play works by JS Bach, JJ
Quantz, JB Sammartini, GP Telemann, M Praetorius and PA Locatelli.
The concert will take place on March 15 at
15h00 at the Durban Jewish Centre, 44 KE Masinga (Old Fort) Road. Tickets R120 (R100
FOM Members). There is safe parking and a cash bar is available.
