THE ULTIMATE COUNTDOWN ONLINE FOR ROCKWOOD

(Andrew Webster)

This Friday, September 18 sees the launch of The Ultimate Countdown - the first online show to be staged at Rockwood, Sibaya.

“We are counting down some of the best songs from our show,” explains show host, theatre owner and the creator of the shows, Andrew Webster. “It is a nostalgic trip featuring some great songs – in some ways, a memory lane count-down. We are also counting down in faith to our re-opening and the end of the Lockdown.”

The Ultimate Countdown features songs from their hit shows including: Juke Box Hits, Nothing but the 90s, Rocking World Tour, Hollywood Hits and many others. Also featuring Jessica Laws and Jean Citto, the show promises to be something of a spectacle.

“Rockwood fans have grown accustomed to a certain level of quality, so we did not want to disappoint them with a half-baked show,” said Webster. “Therefore, we have taken our time to plan a great show for our audiences. We want it to be more of a spectacle for them, with great sound, lighting, costumes, dancers, musicians and additional visuals. We are with Robbie Williams when he says, ‘Let Me Entertain You’ – which is also the opening number of the second set of the show.

To do this, Rockwood Theatre have teamed up with the online production and streaming company, DigiTv using six cameras, overlays, lighting effects and high-quality sound, providing a real entertainment spectacle for the paying fans.

The show is a fundraiser for the theatre’s artists who have not been able to work since 15 March. “Most of our artists have not earned anything since March and do not know how they are going to make it to whenever the theatre eventually re-opens,” says Webster.

Afternoon shows will be held on Saturdays and Sundays. “The great thing about going online is that people can hold ‘watch parties’ with mates that are in other cities or even overseas. Just make sure that they confirm the show time and then they can watch together, commenting over social media.

The show will run on the DigiTV platform from September 18 to 27 from 19h00. Tickets are just R50 and are available from Quicket. (www.quicket.co.za)
