CAROL BROWN WORKSHOP

(Carol Brown)

Well-known Durban arts curator Carol Brown will be giving an intensive and fun workshop on December 5, 2020, from 09h30 to 16h00 at Harringtons Lounge in Cape Town.

Titled Reboot Yourself and Your Art for 2021, the workshop will be a collaborative process where all will share experiences. Topics which will be addressed include the current Art Ecosystem and how to tap into it.

“I have been a curator and workshop facilitator working locally and internationally for many years but this year has thrown new challenges in all our lives and drastic changes have occurred in the art worlds,” Brown explains.

“Join us in a collaborative one day workshop where we will inspire each other and you will achieve a personal Road Map to take you forward. Topics include: New trends in art making/buying. Has the internet taken over? Exhibition then and now, The Way Forward.

“There have been many changes in the past year or so in the way art is circulated, sold and marketed. We all need to upskill and be in touch with the times. Marketing and exhibiting your own art will be addressed and you will make your own road map for the year ahead.

“Our partners are Art Route, Cape Town and I thank Tamlyn Martin and Talita Swart for their enthusiasm and support in bringing this together.” Brown adds.

The following testimonial comes from artist Monique van Deventer:

“Two years ago in 2018, I was a struggling KZN artist with a good concept and some promising artworks, with no idea how to promote myself or approach galleries. Then I attended Carol Brown’s two-day course at Giverny country Studios, and I told my husband, that ‘just meeting someone as influential and experienced as Carol would be worth it’. How right I was. After that course, I then asked Carol if I could have private consultations with her. I gained valuable skills, and also changed my attitude and started to take myself as an Artist more seriously and to create a vision board and timeline, under Carol’s guidance.

“On the 12th December, 2020, I will be opening my very first solo Art exhibition at the Castle of Good Hope Museum in Cape Town, with Carol Brown as my Curator. I could not have dreamt of this two years ago, and certainly would not be where I am today without Carol’s guidance and expertise. Not only has she opened me up to a host of incredible contacts, but her ideas have pushed me as an artist to branch out and expand into different mediums, and to broaden the original concept of my exhibition.

“I highly recommend Carol to anyone who desires to take their Art more seriously and to develop their career and get themselves on the so called ‘map’.”

Workshop price R850 includes coffee and pastries in the morning and a finger lunch prepared by renowned Guy Wood. Participants will also be given a booklet with course information as well as a Zoom consultation following the workshop.

The numbers are limited so booking is urgently suggested. Contact Carol Brown through Curate.a.space@gmail.com or WhatsApp 083 778 1192.
