KZNSA BUZZART20


All are welcome to the KZNSA’s official BUZZART20 opening tomorrow (November 19) at 18h00.

“We have exciting local makers taking part this year such as Makerspace, Xavier Clarisse, Grace Kotze, Ruth Samaai, Research Unit, RAW Durban, Savage Jewellery, and so much more,” says the KZNSA.

“We are looking forward to a performance by group, Abahambayo, at the opening. Enjoy the blend of African folk music fused with modern jazz and pop. Our Arts café is now open until 20h00 every Tuesday - Friday for after-work drinks and snacks. Throughout BUZZART there will be a D'Urban gin bar, with a few giveaways included.

Research Unit

Research Unit is a sustainable, utilitarian lifestyle brand based in Cape Town. They make timeless, superior quality accessories for worldly urbanites with a shared adherence to purist principles and a passion for good design.

They only use the highest quality, ethically sourced materials such as vegetable-tanned leathers from a family-run facility in KwaZulu-Natal, organic 100% cotton canvas and ripstop made from recycled plastic waste.

 

L'MAD Collection

L’MAD Collection was founded by curator Lucy MacGarry in 2012. L’MAD is a South African fashion brand that creates limited edition collections to promote local artists and designers. iFele

Reggi Xaba is the designer behind iFele. iFele is a reinterpretation of the Zulu ‘imbadada’ sandals. Reimagined using modern and sustainable shoe-making methods with luxury materials. He works at his Durban studio with a young team of designers under the company ZETU Shoes, which he founded in 2016 after many years working in Cape Town. The focus of ZETU is African aesthetic inspired contemporary footwear for all ages. His signature sandals are a must have!

 

RAW Durban

RAW Durban is an exciting local slow fashion brand. Their 100% cotton items are organically hand dyed, and woven by KwaZulu-Natal master weavers. Inspired by Durban’s surf culture, their aesthetic is cool, and for anyone keen to donne on something chilled.

 

Savage Jewellery

Savage Jewellery is about shape and texture. Modern everyday jewellery for the person who knows what they want. Their designs are handcrafted in sterling silver, bronze and brass.

 

IN THE ARTS CAFE

Shisanyama Sunday

Come and enjoy an authentic, urban township experience with the Shisanyama Shandisi pop-up on Sunday, November 22, 2020, at 14h00. All meals will be prepared by special guest chef and culinary sensation Chef Thami Dlamini.

Pair your flame-grilled meal with our newly-installed tap of THAT Brew or a splash of G&T in the KZNSA garden under the shade of acacias while listening to some grand tunes.

Distillery 031's D'Urban Gin will be popping up at BUZZART20. At the opening, take a photo of yourself and tag @durbangin and @kznsashop to stand a chance to win an amazing local D'Urban Gin Gift hamper. They will have a few bottles of their Scarlet Gin and D'Urban Dry to giveaway when you shop at BUZZART20 this festive season.

The Arts Café is open until 20h00 every Tuesday to Friday! Come and unwind with a glass of wine after work. The beer on tap is back up and running for those craving a draught (photo pre-lockdown, masks on).
