(Benjamin Burton)
The Prelude Performer for the next Friends of Music Concert on March 28, 2021, will be Benjamin Burton.
A 16 year-old student from Kearsney College, Burton has been playing violin for almost 11 years, under the expert tutorship of Petya Koleva, the Principal First violinist of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra.
He is the current concertmaster of the KZN Youth Orchestra and has been a soloist for the KZNPO Young Performers Concert several times and has played twice with the South African National Youth Orchestra.
Burton is working towards his Grade 8 practical exam and recently passed Grade 8 Music Theory with distinction. Accompanied by Dr Andrew Warburton, he will be playing Vocalise written by Sergei Rachmaninoff and The Bee composed by Franz Schubert.
The Friends of Music Concert will feature A Quartet Of Friends which comprises Cathy Peacock (trumpet); Sabine Baird (flute); Marguerite Spies (cello) and Andrew Warburton (piano). The friends will perform an eclectic choice of music which will highlight each individual instrument.
