FOM PRESENTS A QUARTET OF FRIENDS

Friends of Music’s next concert on March 28, 2021, will feature A Quartet of Friends, comprising Cathy Peacock (trumpet); Sabine Baird (flute); Marguerite Spies (cello) and Dr Andrew Warburton (piano).

Dr Andrew Warburton is one of the finest solo pianists and accompanists in South Africa. He is presently Lecturer in Piano, Director of the Opera School and Choral Academy, and head of Western Classical Performance Studies at the UKZN School of Music.

Marguerite Spies was member of the KZNPO for 12 years. She is currently a freelance player and cello teacher.

The friends will perform an eclectic choice of music which will highlight each individual instrument. The programme will include compositions from Purcell, Jeremiah Clark, JS Bach, Debussy, Massenet, Albeniz, Morricone, Walton, Muszkowski, Piazzolla and more.

Sabine Baird is the Principal Flautist for the KZNPO. She is also the flute teacher at the Deutsche Schule, Durban.

The concert will take place at 11h00 on March 28, 2021, at the Durban Jewish Centre – 44 KE Masinga Road.

Cathy Peacock is Sub Principal Trumpet with the KZNPO, mentor and tutor for KZN Youth Orchestra, trumpet teacher and leader of the 8 piece band, Platform Jazz.
