Baroque 2000 will launch its 2021 Season of eight concerts on Sunday May 23, 2021, at 11h30 at the Church of the Mariannhill Monastery.
The programme consists exclusively of works by the great Johann Sebastian Bach. Violinist Ralitza Macheva, the ensemble Concertmaster will be the soloist in this concert and will perform the Chaconne from Partita No 2 in D minor (BWV1004) as well as the violin concerto in A minor (BWV 1041). Evelien Ballantine will shine on the flute in the obligato part of the Suite Overture No 2 in B minor (BWV1067) ending with the most famous Badinerie, a highly acrobatic movement for the instrument.
The young and talented Bjorn Kruger from the Kearsney College Choir will sing the aria extracted from the Christmas Oratorio Bereite Dich Zion.
Tickets R170 at the door or you can become a subscriber for the whole 2021 Season. R1360 secures you a reserved seat and no queue at the door.
There is ample free parking available and the Tea Garden will be open for refreshments and light meals. Covid-19 sanitary regulations will apply. Maximum entrance numbers are limited to 100.
