Icons of Music returns to the HISTORY® Channel Africa, DStv 186 showcasing renowned musicians from various genres, who, collectively have entertained millions for almost seven decades. These include reggae stalwart Bob Marley and Johnny Clegg, a truly legendary South African muso who used his songs and dance performances as a weapon against the brutal apartheid system.
The stories behind the music air every Saturday at 20h15, from May 1 through to June 5. In addition to Clegg and Marley, each once off special will shine the spotlight on the musical journey of other rock and pop acts, namely Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Ozzy Osbourne and Fleetwood Mac songstress Stevie Nicks.

The exceptional story of a committed musician, crazy for
dance, who made the world love his vision of a South African culture that
allowed everyone, black and white, to express themselves and make it possible
to get along. Apartheid was a divisive tool, but Johnny Clegg’s dream sought a
way of uniting South Africans by mixing English and Zulu, African rhythms and
rock.
