Jonathan Roxmouth, the multi-award winning star of local theatre and the internationally acclaimed Phantom in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera is proud to present “SHOWSTOPPERS! An online engagement” in association with leading technical services company, Splitbeam.

He recently appeared at Durban’s Rhumbelow Theatre in May with We’re Still Standing, a tribute to Elton John’s music.

For the first time, Roxmouth will be performing more than 15 well-known “showstopping” songs from a selection of popular Broadway and West End musicals, all in the safety of your home. Accompanied by 11 of South Africa’s top musicians, Jonathan Roxmouth’s exclusive SHOWSTOPPERS! show will stream for seven days only from July 30, 2021.

Audiences will be able to enjoy new orchestrations of Bring Him Home (Les Misérables), The Music of the Night from The Phantom of the Opera for which Jonathan is best known, Memory (Cats), Waving through a Window (Dear Evan Hansen), ‘Til I hear you Sing (Love Never Dies), What I did for Love (A Chorus Line) and many more.

Roxmouth made his professional debut in 2006 in the Barnyard Theatre’s production of Grease followed by leading roles in local and international touring musical productions of The Phantom of the Opera, Chicago, Evita, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Grease, West Side Story, Sweeney Todd, Sunset Boulevard, Jesus Christ Superstar, Cats, Beauty and the Beast, The King and I and The Buddy Holly Story. Live shows include A Hand Full of Keys, Hats Off, In Black and White, Topsy Turvy, Noël & Gertie, Jeeves & Wooster in Perfect Nonsense and concert biography shows include Call Me Lee and Great Balls of Fire. Album recordings include Stage by Stage, From the Footlights, Live in Seoul and Swinglebells.

Roxmouth says: “Owing to COVID-19 lockdown restrictions and the resulting closing of theatres, many fans and theatre-goers here at home and abroad have requested a digital concert and, after searching for the right musicians, the right location and a repertoire to uplift hearts and revisit musical theatre, I am delighted to present SHOWSTOPPERS!” In these difficult times, especially now in winter, what better way to relax than attending a musical theatre concert in the comfort of your lounge at a time and date that’s convenient to you during the allocated seven-day period.”
