AARON RETURNS WITH ADHD

(Aaron McIlroy pictured onstage in “ADHD” by Val Adamson)

Comedy legend Aaron McIlroy makes a welcome return to the Durban stage with his one-of-a-kind hit show, ADHD

This will run at the Seabrooke’s Theatre on the DHS Campus from September 8 to 19, 2021.

A special preview at Seabrooke’s Theatre will be given on Tuesday September 7 (R100 per person).

Produced by MacBob Productions, this hilarious take on the “problems” of ADHD - and other “disturbing behavioural patterns” - is charmingly portrayed by South Africa’s Master of Character Comedy, as McIlroy takes audiences on a wild and whacky journey into the fantastical world of learning disorders!

Facts and theories are turned on their heads, as we get a bird’s eye view into the chaotic and beautiful mind of Aaron McIlroy, who has lived with this ‘gift’ for the last half century and more.

“If not exactly autobiographical, I certainly have inside information!” quips McIlroy about his show. The veteran comic’s hugely popular brand of humour has spiced up the theatre scene over several decades.

Billed as a “comedic steamroller without GPS”, ADHD is scripted by Aaron McIlroy and Patrick Kenny, and directed by Kenny.

artSMart reviewer Barry Meehan covered the show on February 22, 2019. Here are a few extracts from his review:

ADHD is as good as Comedy Masterclass, if not better, so hats off to these two collaborators. McIlroy has always been the master of the throwaway line and aside, and ADHD has these in spades. ….

All in all, ADHD is a gem of a theatre performance, with McIlroy at his absolute best, and deserves to be seen by all Durbanites
