The Arts & Culture Trust (ACT) announces the outcomes for the Thuthukisani Programme 2021, proudly funded by Nedbank.
(Thuthukisani is a call to action taken from the Zulu word Thuthukisa (verb) meaning develop).
The ACT Thuthukisani programme is a programme designed to take 63 successful applicants from across South Africa on a holistic and enabling journey to empower them through training and professionalisation. The roll-out will take place in three cycles, inviting applications from three provinces per cycle, with seven selected Thuthukisani participants per province. After thorough training and mentorship, the participants will then pitch their projects for the opportunity to receive monetary investment. Three projects per province will receive a cash investments and ongoing mentorship throughout the implementation of their projects.
Applications for Thuthukisani Cycle 1, which was open between August 8 and September 10, 2021, saw more than 100 arts entrepreneurs from North West, Mpumalanga and Limpopo vie for a spot on the programme.
The remaining six provinces will be able to apply for the programme in 2022.

Limpopo: Rhulani Chauke; Sarah Hlengani Masunga; Lethabo Ramokgopa; Mogoshadi Kedibone Mampana; Lufuno Munzhelele Maliaga; Ronald Matsheta, and Tshepo Moeti
Mpumalanga: Dikhulong Mothiba; Marie Lombard; Lungile Jafta; Sibongile Nkosi; Mzwandile Mangcu; Thulani Sibanyoni, and Tsholofelo Malewa
North West: Thabang Gabogope; Mahubo Phungulwa; Charlotte Mofokeng; Lucky Mqobodi; Vuyo Lennox Makatees; Obakeng Mirriam Thage, and Mogomotsi Simon Maphutha
The ACT Thuthukisani programme will take
these successful applicants on a directed and purposeful journey through
entrepreneurial training, development and one-on-one mentorship, giving them
the opportunity to pitch for a monetary investment towards their chosen
project.
