BBC STUDIOS NOVEMBER HIGHLIGHTS

BBC Studios has a selection of great new entertainment coming to your TV screens this November.

Serengeti, narrated by Black Panther star Lupita Nyong’o, returns to BBC Earth to capture the dramatic and emotional interconnected stories of iconic savannah animals. In Universe, Brian Cox takes viewers on a journey into the vastness of space, to uncover the birth of a star in a stellar nursery, experience the power of a supermassive black hole as it flings a sun across space so fast it’s still traveling 10 million years later, and reveal the chaos created as two galaxies collide.

BBC Lifestyle sees the return of the popular cooking show Masterchef where judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace put 40 of the UK’s most passionate and talented amateur cooks through their paces, as they search for one exceptional home cook worthy of being crowned MasterChef Champion 2021.

On BBC Brit, crime-drama fans can look forward to The ABC Murders as Bafta-nominated writer Sarah Phelps returns to explore the 20th Century through Christie’s work and Catherine the Great – where multi-award-winning Helen Mirren stars in a four-part drama that delves into the politically tumultuous and sexually charged court of the most powerful female monarch in history.

The ABC Murders (3 episodes)

Catch the second in the 3-episode series of The ABC Murders which will be shown tonight November 9 at 21h00 on BBC Brit.

Bafta-nominated writer Sarah Phelps returns to explore the 20th Century through Christie’s work in this adaptation of the classic 1936 title.

It’s 1933 and a killer travels the length and breadth of Britain via the railway network. The killer uses the alias ABC, and strikes in a methodical pattern, leaving a copy of the ABC railway guide at the scene of each of murder. As Poirot attempts to investigate, he is thwarted on every front. If he is to match his most cunning nemesis, everything about him will be called into question: his authority, his integrity, his identity.

John Malkovich leads the cast as Hercule Poirot alongside Rupert Grint as Inspector Crome, Andrew Buchan as Franklin Clarke, Eamon Farren as Cust, Tara Fitzgerald as Lady Hermione Clarke, Shirley Henderson as Rose Marbury, Jack Farthing as Donald Fraser, Bronwyn James in the role of Megan and Freya Mavor as Thora Grey.

 

Animals with Camera Season 2

Catch the second and final episode of this season on Monday November 14, at 19h00 on BBC Earth.

Wildlife cameraman Gordon Buchanan and his team return for a second series, equipping more wild creatures with their own on-board cameras.

Using discreet and lightweight devices, animals with cameras reveal ground-breaking new behaviour in creatures large and small. Dive into the mysterious lives of sharks, orca and turtles. Uncover the curious world of Tasmanian devils and kangaroos. And take to the air, with a fleet of flying foxes and a squadron of gannets. Narrated by Black Panther star Lupita Nyong’o, Serengeti returns to explore an unspoilt corner of Africa’s Serengeti for more real-life animal drama. The pioneering series returns to capture the dramatic and emotional interconnected stories of iconic savannah animals.

There’s humour, heartbreak and nail-biting tension as new characters move in and familiar faces continue their stories. Bakari the baboon struggles with family life. Kali the lioness makes a difficult decision. A family of leopards arrive – and the adorable and adventurous cubs test their mother’s patience as they get used to their new home.

In this series, Brian Cox will delve into the vastness of space, to uncover the moments of sheer drama when the universe as we know it changed forever.

With Brian as our guide, we’ll watch the birth of a star in a stellar nursery, experience the power of a supermassive black hole as it flings a sun across space so fast it’s still traveling 10 million years later, and reveal the chaos created as two galaxies collide.

Huge advances in our scientific understanding mean that for the first time we can take you to places we didn’t even know existed just ten years ago. We’ll come face to face with the Universe’s most surprising characters and understand how their fates are intertwined with our own.
